How Do I Implement A Location Drop Down Menu?

I would like to implement a location drop down menu, like the ones shown on and

I would like a user to be able to type in a location anywhere around the world, and show only results from that location.

I assume the location drop down menu has something to do with Google maps but I can't seem to figure it out.



I believe what you'd like to achieve is the Autocomplete function, this is available through Google Maps Places API - Place Autocomplete.
